When Ronald P. Reitz was 17 years of age, he enlisted in the US Navy. Two years later he won an appointment to attend
the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He later attended the University of Maryland and Catholic University. As a research
physicist working for the Navy, he discovered Reitz effects 1 and 2. He also invented numerous inventions and processes for
which the Navy gained the patent rights. He is currently working on several other books.
